This 3.0m x 75mm x 75mm timber fence post gives you extra length for deeper setting while keeping the tidy look of a slimmer square post. It suits lighter fencing runs, trellis work and general garden timber projects, particularly where the ground is uneven or you want more post below ground for stability. It is pressure treated and finished in green for outdoor conditions.

The longer length is useful when you need to set deeper to suit the site. As a rough guide, aim to bury at least a third of the post and adjust if the fence line is exposed or the soil is loose. A deep, well-supported base helps reduce movement, which is what often leads to leaning posts and wavy fence lines.

Before installation, set out your run carefully. Mark your post centres based on the panels or rails you are using and pull a string line to keep everything straight. When you install the post, check it for plumb on two faces and keep checking as you backfill or concrete. If you are concreting, finishing the top of the mix with a slight slope away from the timber helps water drain away from the post.

The 75mm section is a good fit for lighter-duty fencing where you want a neat finish and easy handling. It works well with trellis panels and shorter heights, and it is often used for dividing areas of the garden without the posts dominating the look. For heavier panels or any gate hanging, it is usually worth stepping up to a thicker section for extra strength.

If you cut the post to height, protect the fresh cut end grain before fitting. Many fence lines also benefit from gravel boards to lift panels away from wet ground. For setting, choose cement products to suit your preferred method and the ground you are working with.
