This 1.8m x 75mm x 75mm timber fence post is a neat, easy-to-fit option for lighter fencing work and general garden timber projects. The 75mm square profile keeps the look clean and is simple to align, making it popular for smaller panels, rails and trellis sections. It is pressure treated and finished in green for outdoor conditions.

With a 1.8m length, this post is commonly used where you are building to a typical garden fence height. A practical guide is to set around one third of the post into the ground, which often means digging to roughly 600mm. In loose or sandy ground, or on an exposed boundary, going a bit deeper and packing well makes a noticeable difference to how firm the fence feels.

Start by planning your post spacing from the panel or rail lengths you are using. Set up a string line and mark out each position before you dig. When you set the post, check it for plumb on two sides and keep checking as you backfill or concrete. If you are concreting, finish the top of the mix with a slight slope away from the post so rainwater drains off.

The 75mm section is a good fit for lighter-duty jobs where a bigger post is not needed. It is also a popular choice for runs that include trellis panels or for dividing areas of the garden without the posts looking heavy. For taller panels, long runs in windy locations, or gate hanging, consider moving up to a heavier section for extra rigidity.

If you cut the post, apply an end grain preservative to the fresh cut before fitting. Many customers also use gravel boards to keep timber panels clear of the ground. Pairing the right post size with suitable cement products for your ground conditions helps you achieve a straight, stable finish that lasts.
