What does lightweight mean on East Coast Fencing concrete gravel boards?

Quick Answer

Our lightweight rebated concrete gravel boards are listed around 40% lighter than the equivalent-height standard smooth boards. They remain steel reinforced and vibration finished.

Lightweight refers to a substantial reduction in the listed board weight, not to the removal of the steel reinforcement.

Our 6 Inch Lightweight Rebated Concrete Gravel Board is listed at 15kg. The standard 6 Inch Smooth Concrete Gravel Board is listed at 25kg. That is a 10kg reduction, or 40% of the standard board weight.

The same proportion applies at 12 inches. The lightweight rebated version is listed at 30kg, compared with 50kg for the standard smooth 12 inch board. Both heights retain the same principal 1.83m length and approximately 45 to 55mm depth as the corresponding standard-height concrete boards.

The lightweight versions are still described as steel reinforced and vibration finished. Their other important distinction is the rebated profile, so lower weight does not make them universal replacements for smooth or recessed boards. The profile of the existing fencing system still needs to match.

Compare the different weights, heights and profiles within our concrete gravel boards range.
