A 1650mm closeboard panel above a 150mm concrete gravel board gives 1800mm of combined visible height. This provides a full-height arrangement while placing concrete rather than timber at the bottom of the fence.
A useful reason for combining these two sizes is that their published heights add to 1800mm.
Our 5ft 6in Closeboard Fence Panel is 1650mm high. A 6 Inch Smooth Concrete Gravel Board is 150mm high. Together they create 1800mm of visible panel-and-board height.
That is the same published height as our full-height 6ft closeboard panel, but the bottom 150mm is concrete rather than part of the timber panel. The gravel board therefore forms the lowest component while the closeboard panel starts above it.
The 5ft 6in panel is not a lightly supported version of the 6ft panel. The Standard 1650mm closeboard panel uses four 75 x 32mm backing rails, which is the same rail count as the Standard 1800mm panel. The Ultra Heavy Duty versions at both 1650mm and 1800mm use five rails.
This combination can therefore be useful when planning a nominal full-height closeboard boundary around a 150mm concrete base. Other options can be compared under closeboard fence panels and concrete gravel boards.
