We manufacture our closeboard panels from 18 overlapping 125mm feather edge boards fixed to 75 x 32mm backing rails. The panels are unframed, approximately 45mm deep, pressure treated and finished with timber capping along the top.
East Coast Fencing manufactures its closeboard fence panels in-house from 18 vertical feather edge boards, each 125mm wide. The boards overlap to form the closeboard face and are fixed across horizontal backing rails measuring 75 x 32mm.
The number of backing rails changes according to panel height and whether the panel is Standard or Ultra Heavy Duty, but the underlying construction remains the same. For example, our 6ft x 6ft Standard Closeboard Fence Panel uses four 75 x 32mm backing rails.
The panels are unframed rather than surrounded by a heavy outer frame, and the listed overall depth is approximately 45mm. A timber capping strip finishes the top edge and covers the exposed ends of the feather edge boards.
All of the timber is pressure treated for outdoor use. Brown and green/natural versions use the same underlying construction, so treatment colour does not change the number of boards, rail dimensions or basic panel layout.
You can compare the different heights, treatment colours and Standard and Ultra Heavy Duty constructions in our closeboard fence panels range.
