Yes. An East Coast Fencing closeboard panel can be trimmed where the available opening is narrower than the standard 1830mm panel width.
Our closeboard fence panels are manufactured in-house at 1830mm wide. They are unframed panels made from 18 overlapping feather edge boards fixed across 75 x 32mm backing rails, with timber capping along the top. Existing fence bays are not always exactly 1830mm, particularly where older posts have moved or were originally installed to slightly different spacing.
Measure the clear opening before altering the panel. If the width genuinely needs reducing, the panel can be trimmed to suit the measured bay rather than forcing the full-width panel between the posts.
Any cutting exposes fresh timber that was not on the original treated surface. Our product guidance therefore specifies that freshly cut timber should be re-treated after the panel is altered.
For example, the 6ft x 6ft closeboard panel starts at 1830mm wide and approximately 45mm deep. Once shortened, it is a site-modified panel rather than the original factory-width configuration, so measure carefully before making the cut.
