Yes. Our published weights show that waney lap panels are considerably lighter than Standard closeboard panels at equivalent heights.
At full height, the 6ft x 6ft waney lap panel is listed at 20kg. The equivalent 6ft x 6ft Standard closeboard panel is listed at 40kg.
The difference continues through shorter sizes. At 5ft, waney lap is listed at 17kg compared with 33kg for Standard closeboard. At 4ft the figures are 15kg and 27kg, and at 3ft they are 13kg and 20kg.
The construction explains the difference. Waney lap uses relatively thin horizontal boards, nominally around 125 x 4.7mm, held by front and rear support battens. Closeboard uses 18 overlapping feather edge boards supported by substantial 75 x 32mm backing rails.
Both are pressure-treated timber panels manufactured by East Coast Fencing, but they achieve their screened faces with substantially different amounts and sections of timber.
