This 6 inch smooth concrete gravel board provides a low-profile concrete base beneath a standard 6ft (1.83m) fence panel. At 150mm high and approximately 45 to 55mm deep, it is a good option where you want the protection of concrete at ground level without adding the 305mm height of a 12 inch board.
The smooth face keeps the bottom of the fence visually simple. Its practical role is to separate timber fencing from damp soil, reduce direct splashback onto the lower edge of the panel and put a non-rotting material at the point where the fence is closest to the ground.
This concrete gravel board is steel reinforced and vibration finished. The 150mm height should be considered when choosing the panel above it because the gravel board contributes to the total height of the finished fencing arrangement. If you are replacing an existing board, measure its height rather than assuming the current fence uses the 6 inch size.
The 1.83m length is intended around a standard fencing bay and can be fitted between suitable concrete fence posts. Correct post spacing is important because concrete cannot simply be trimmed on site in the same way as a timber gravel board. Set the board level within the post slots before installing the panel above, and plan stepped changes carefully where the ground slopes.
Choose the 6 inch version where a relatively discreet base is preferred or where an additional 12 inches beneath the panel would be unnecessary. The concrete gravel boards range includes other heights and profiles, while wooden gravel boards are worth considering where cutting and easier handling are more important.
