The 8ft Concrete Intermediate Fence Post is a reliable option for building straight fence runs with a clean finish and solid support for standard garden panels. Our concrete posts are wet cast and steel reinforced, then vibration finished so you get three smooth sides out of four. Each post is topped with a decorative pyramid finish, which gives a smart look and helps water run off the top.
Intermediate posts are used between corners and ends to keep the fence line straight. This intermediate post is 100 x 100mm and features a slotted profile to take fence panels. A useful detail is the built-in peg or shoulder set inside the slot around 600mm from the bottom of the post. That shoulder is designed to carry a concrete gravel board. It supports the base of the run, helps stop panels settling over time, and makes it easier to keep a consistent top line, especially across longer boundaries.
You can fit fence panels directly into the slot if you prefer, but a gravel board is often worth considering. It lifts the panel away from wet ground, reduces splashback onto the timber, and gives a neat, straight base line along the fence. If you want that finish, take a look at concrete gravel boards or browse the full gravel boards range.
For the best result, set out the run carefully. Start with corners and ends, run a string line, and keep post centres consistent so panels drop in neatly without forcing. When selecting length, allow for the visible fence height plus a suitable depth into the ground. On exposed sites, extra embedment helps the fence stay firm.
