The 6FT x 4FT Horizontal Hit & Miss Panel is a 1200mm-high decorative fence panel that balances useful screening with a boundary that remains lower and less enclosing than a 5ft or 6ft panel. It suits side gardens, patio divisions and other areas where the fence needs to interrupt views without necessarily creating full-height privacy.
Manufactured in Poland and imported by East Coast Fencing, the panel measures a true 6ft (1.828m) wide. Many imported decorative ranges use a 1.8m width, which can leave them short of a traditional UK 6ft bay. This range is deliberately sized to the established UK panel format, making the width easier to integrate with conventional fencing layouts when the posts and fixing system are compatible.
The panel uses a 45 x 45mm semi-planed timber frame and 100 x 5mm grooved horizontal slats. Slats are fixed on both faces in an alternating pattern, producing the hit & miss effect. The opposite-side boards overlap the direct viewing gaps, so the panel offers stronger screening than a one-sided slatted fence while still allowing some movement of air through the structure. Overall depth is 45mm.
The green/natural timber is pressure treated. When several panels are installed in a run, set the fence posts carefully so the horizontal courses remain visually level from one bay to the next. Measure the actual opening before installation, allow sensible fitting clearance and avoid burying the lower frame in soil. A compatible gravel board can be used where you want a separate base beneath the timber.
The 1200mm size is a practical step up from a low 900mm divider without committing to taller screening. See the full set of heights under hit & miss fence panels, or compare the different appearances and screening levels across our decorative fence panels.
