This 5ft (1.5m) concrete corner fence post is made for a right-angled change of direction. The 125 x 125mm post has slots on two adjacent faces so the two fence runs meet cleanly at one structural junction.
A 5ft corner post is a compact junction for lower fencing. Because the same post has to satisfy the fixing needs of two runs, check the finished height and below-ground allowance on both sides of the corner before deciding that 1.5m is enough overall length. Use this post only where two fence runs turn through a right angle. It is not a substitute for an intermediate post on a straight run or an end post at the final bay because the slot arrangement is different.
The 125mm square section is larger than the 100 x 100mm intermediate profile, giving the corner a substantial junction point where two fence lines meet. The post should be rotated correctly before setting because both adjoining fence lines depend on the two slots facing the intended directions. Suitable fence panels can then meet directly at the corner.
The post is wet cast with steel reinforcement inside the concrete, then vibration finished so three sides out of four have a smooth face. A pyramid-shaped top finishes the exposed end. Concrete is well suited to the buried part of a fence support because the material itself does not rot at the ground line.
A corner post fixes the direction of two separate fence runs, so its position and rotation need to be correct before either side is built out. Check both lines with strings rather than aligning the post to one boundary and assuming the second will follow. Establish both fence lines before fixing the corner post, then check that each slot points exactly along its intended run. A small rotational error at the corner can make two bays difficult to align.
