No. The C16 designation on our 2.4m x 100 x 47mm Wallplate is a defined timber strength grade, but it should not be read as a stated safe span for every installation.
The product is a 2.4m-long rectangular section measuring 100 x 47mm and is explicitly listed as C16 pressure-treated timber. The 2.4m measurement describes the supplied length of the timber. It does not mean the complete 2.4m length is intended to be left unsupported.
Our product guidance specifically states that the suitability of the completed structure still depends on how the wallplate is supported and fixed. The supporting material, fixing arrangement and spacing are therefore part of the completed assembly rather than properties determined by the C16 label alone.
This distinction is useful when interpreting timber specifications. C16 tells you something defined about the timber grade; 100 x 47mm tells you its section; and 2.4m tells you the supplied length. Those three specifications do not combine into a universal span or load figure.
