Rather than the gravel board continuing unrestricted down the full length of the slot, the board can sit on this internal shoulder. This creates a defined support point within the concrete post system and helps establish a consistent base beneath the fence panel.
The feature is present on products such as our 8ft Concrete Intermediate Fence Post. That post is 2.4m long with a 100 x 100mm profile and opposing slots for continuing a straight fence run.
The shoulder is specifically relevant when the fence uses compatible concrete gravel boards. The gravel board sits below the timber fence panel, while both components are retained within the post slots.
This is one of the less visible specifications of our concrete fence posts, but it explains how the gravel board is supported within the slotted system rather than simply resting at an arbitrary point inside the post.
