Choose the post by what happens at that point in the fence: intermediate posts continue a straight run, end posts finish it, corner posts turn through a right angle and 3-way posts join three separate runs.
Choose the concrete post type from the shape of the fence layout, because each post has a different slot arrangement. The post length is a separate decision based on the finished fence height and the amount of post required below ground.
- Intermediate post: used through a straight run. It accepts fencing from opposite sides so one bay continues directly into the next.
- End post: used where the fence stops. It has a single panel slot, leaving the outer face closed at the end of the boundary.
- Corner post: used for a right-angled change of direction. Slots on two adjacent faces allow the two fence runs to meet at the corner.
- 3-way post: used where three fence runs meet at one junction. It has slots on three faces.
In our range, intermediate posts use a 100 x 100mm section, end posts are 100 x 125mm, and corner and 3-way posts use a 125 x 125mm section. The different profiles reflect the job each post performs within the slotted system.
Plan every straight section, termination, corner and junction before ordering. Slot orientation matters, especially at corners and 3-way junctions, because rotating the post incorrectly can affect more than one bay once it has been concreted in.
