Concrete post weight changes with the post profile as well as its length. At 8ft, our intermediate and end posts are listed at 45kg, the corner post at 55kg and the 3-way post at 56kg.
Concrete posts of the same length can have noticeably different listed weights because the cross-section and slot arrangement change according to the job the post performs.
At 8ft, or 2.4m, our intermediate concrete post has a 100 x 100mm section and is listed at 45kg. The 8ft end post uses a 100 x 125mm profile and is also listed at 45kg.
The specialist junction posts are larger in section. Our 8ft corner post is 125 x 125mm and listed at 55kg, while the 8ft 3-way post also uses a 125 x 125mm section and is listed at 56kg.
The same post length therefore does not imply the same weight. Intermediate, end, corner and 3-way posts have different profiles because their slots need to serve different positions in the fence.
When comparing products under concrete fence posts, check the post type and listed weight as well as the overall length. This is particularly relevant when several specialist corner or junction posts form part of the same order.
