This 12 inch smooth concrete gravel board is a strong, tidy base for timber fencing. Fitted under the fence panels, it helps keep the bottom edge of the panel clear of damp soil and reduces splashback. The smooth face gives a clean finish along the fence line and suits most garden styles.

Our concrete gravel boards are web cast and steel reinforced, then vibration finished. They are roughly 45mm thick, which gives a solid board that stands up well to day to day knocks and garden wear. Concrete is often chosen where the fence line is exposed, where the ground stays wet, or where you want a more impact-resistant base than timber gravel boards.

The 12 inch height gives good coverage at ground level. It can help bridge small dips in the ground and can be useful if you are trying to keep pets in or reduce gaps under the fence. For sloping gardens, stepping the boards and panels in planned stages tends to look smarter than trying to follow every rise and fall, and it makes fitting easier because each section stays level.

How you fit the board depends on your posts. With concrete fence posts, the board usually slots straight into the grooves. With timber fence posts, it is commonly fixed between the posts using suitable fixings and support. Accurate setting out helps a lot here. If posts are straight and correctly spaced, boards sit neatly and panels above drop into place with less trimming.
