This 12 inch recessed concrete gravel board forms a substantial concrete base beneath a fence panel while adding a recessed face rather than the plain appearance of a smooth board. It measures 6ft (1.83m) long and 12 inches (305mm) high, with a depth of approximately 45 to 55mm.
Fitting a concrete gravel board below timber fencing keeps the panel itself clear of direct ground contact and places a non-timber component at the point most exposed to damp soil, rain splashback and everyday garden wear. The 305mm height provides considerably more separation from the ground than a 6 inch gravel board, so it is important to take the extra height into account when choosing the fence panel that will sit above it.
The recessed face is primarily a visual choice. It gives the lower part of the fence more detail and definition than a smooth concrete board while performing the same basic job of supporting and protecting the fencing above. This board is steel reinforced and vibration finished, with a light grey concrete appearance.
It is designed for use within a concrete fencing arrangement and can be fitted between suitable concrete fence posts. Accurate setting out matters: the distance between posts needs to accommodate the 1.83m board and the corresponding panel without forcing either component into position. Concrete gravel boards are also significantly less convenient to trim than timber, so getting post centres right before installation saves problems later.
Choose this 12 inch recessed version where the additional base height and patterned concrete face suit the finished fence. If appearance is less important than a plain, understated base, compare the other styles within our concrete gravel boards range. Suitable fence panels can then be selected with the gravel board height taken into account.
