The 6ft x 6ft Waney Lap Fence Panel - Pressure Treated Brown is the full-height panel in our economical overlap range, intended for garden boundaries where screening and privacy are the main priorities. It measures 1830mm wide by 1800mm high and approximately 40mm deep. The 1830mm width follows the traditional UK 6ft panel format, so it is made to work with conventional UK panel bays rather than the narrower 1.8m width found on some imported fencing.

East Coast Fencing manufactures this panel from sawn waney-edge timber, generally spruce with some mixed timber possible. The overlapping boards are specified at approximately 125 x 4.7mm, with around 25–40mm overlap. Waney lap uses comparatively thin sawn boards to provide continuous screening at an economical price point, so it should not be confused with the heavier construction of a closeboard panel. Natural knots, edge variation, colour differences and minor movement are expected.

The structure uses four vertical supports on the front and four on the back. A 75 x 16mm horizontal board runs across both the top and bottom of the front face, and a 16 x 45mm capping strip finishes the upper edge. Every timber component is pressure treated before assembly, and galvanised ring-shank nails secure the panel together. The combination of the two support layers and the slightly angled overlapping slats produces the finished depth of about 40mm.

At 1800mm high, installation quality matters. A full-height solid panel presents more surface area to wind than the shorter versions, so choose fence posts and ground fixing appropriate to the site rather than relying only on the panel dimensions. Keep post centres accurate for the 1830mm width and use a string line to maintain a consistent top line across several bays. The front and rear faces differ, so all panels should be orientated consistently before final fixing.

Where possible, keep the bottom timber away from persistent ground moisture. A compatible gravel board provides a replaceable barrier between the fence panel and soil. Choose this 6ft version when maximum screening within the Waney Lap range is required; shorter alternatives can be compared on our waney lap fence panels page, while other constructions are available across our wider fence panels range.
