This 6ft x 5ft 6in Waney Lap Fence Panel is a useful height when you want privacy that sits between 5ft and 6ft. It’s a popular choice for rear and side boundaries where you want stronger screening, but you’d rather keep the fence line just below full height. Waney lap is also a sensible option for longer runs where you want a traditional look and an affordable build.

Made in-house by East Coast Fencing, this panel is pressure treated for outdoor use and weather capped on the top edge to help shed rain. The overlap construction uses horizontal boards lapped over each other, giving good coverage for the money and the familiar style many UK gardens already have. The brown finish gives the classic treated look, making it easy to blend with existing fencing.

For a neat finish, keep post centres consistent and make sure posts are set straight so the top line doesn’t wander. Allow a small clearance so the panel drops in without forcing, and keep the base off the ground. Avoid letting soil or gravel build up against the timber, as constant damp contact at the bottom is where most fences suffer first.

This panel can be used with timber or concrete posts. Timber posts suit a traditional all-wood look, while concrete posts are often chosen for a stiffer structure. If you need posts for the job, see our fence posts, including wooden fence posts and concrete fence posts. For the full range of heights, browse waney lap fence panels.

If you want a traditional overlap panel at a sensible price with a little extra height, this 6ft x 5ft 6in brown waney lap panel fits the bill.
