The 6ft x 4ft Waney Lap Fence Panel - Pressure Treated Green/Natural is a 1200mm-high panel for boundaries where some screening is useful but a full privacy fence would be unnecessary. It is 1830mm wide, which is the traditional UK 6ft panel dimension, and approximately 40mm thick. The green/natural treatment works well where you want the appearance of freshly treated sawn timber rather than a brown finish.
This is an East Coast Fencing-manufactured panel. We build it from overlapping sawn waney-edge boards, normally spruce although other timber may be mixed in. Each board is nominally around 125 x 4.7mm, with approximately 25–40mm of overlap from one slat to the next. Those dimensions are deliberately approximate: waney timber retains natural edge variation and can differ slightly from board to board. Knots, colour changes and minor movement are therefore normal features of the product.
The support system is designed around the economical nature of waney lap fencing. There are four vertical supports on the front and four on the back, with 75 x 16mm horizontal boards across the top and bottom of the front face. A 16 x 45mm capping strip protects and finishes the upper edge. The timber is pressure treated before assembly, and the completed panel is fixed together with galvanised ring-shank nails.
Because the support arrangement differs between the two faces, the front and back are visually different. Keep that in mind when laying out a boundary or replacing one panel in an existing run. The true 1830mm width is intended to fit standard 6ft UK bays, though actual post centres should always be measured first. Suitable fence posts and gravel boards can be chosen to suit the installation.
The 4ft height is a useful middle ground for front gardens, side boundaries and sections where you want a stronger visual division without completely closing off the space. If the priority changes towards privacy, compare the 5ft, 5ft 6in and 6ft options within our waney lap fence panels range. For planning material quantities across a longer run, the fence materials calculator can also be useful.
