The 6ft x 3ft Waney Lap Fence Panel - Pressure Treated Green/Natural is a 900mm-high overlap panel for low garden boundaries and divisions where an open feel matters more than privacy. Its finished width is 1830mm, matching the traditional UK 6ft fence-panel format, and the overall panel depth is approximately 40mm. The green/natural treatment leaves more of the freshly treated timber appearance visible than the brown version and will weather naturally outdoors.
We manufacture this panel at East Coast Fencing from sawn waney-edge timber, generally spruce but with mixed timber possible depending on supply. Individual lap boards are specified at approximately 125 x 4.7mm and overlap one another by roughly 25–40mm. Those figures are nominal because sawn waney timber is deliberately less uniform than machined boards. Variations in edge profile, knots, shade and small dimensional changes are part of the material and give this type of fence its familiar rustic appearance.
Rather than using a heavy closeboard-style frame, this economical panel is supported by four vertical battens on each face. The front also carries a 75 x 16mm horizontal board at both the top and bottom, with a 16 x 45mm capping piece above. Every timber component is pressure treated before the panel is assembled, and galvanised ring-shank nails are used for the fixings. The overlapping slats, support layers and their angle together create the approximately 40mm finished depth.
Because the two faces are constructed differently, the panel has a defined front and back visually. Check the orientation before installation, particularly on a boundary where one face will be seen more often. The 1830mm width is intended for normal 6ft UK bays, but existing openings should still be measured rather than assumed. Suitable fence posts and a correctly sized wooden gravel board can be selected as part of the same build.
