The 6ft x 3ft Waney Lap Fence Panel - Pressure Treated Brown is a low, economical timber panel for garden boundaries where you want a clear division without the screening of a full-height fence. It measures 1830mm wide by 900mm high and approximately 40mm thick, so the width matches the traditional UK 6ft panel format. That makes it useful for new standard-width bays and for replacing older 6ft lap panels, provided the existing post spacing is checked before ordering.

East Coast Fencing manufactures this panel using sawn waney-edge boards, generally spruce although the timber mix can vary. The overlapping boards are nominally around 125mm wide and 4.7mm thick, with an approximate overlap of 25–40mm. Because this is sawn natural timber, board width, edge shape and appearance are not perfectly uniform. Knots, waney edges, colour variation and minor movement as the timber responds to moisture are normal characteristics rather than defects in the overlap style.

The panel uses four vertical support battens on the front and four on the back. On the front face, 75 x 16mm horizontal boards run across the top and bottom, and a 16 x 45mm capping strip finishes the upper edge. All of the timber is pressure treated before assembly, then fixed together with galvanised ring-shank nails. The support arrangement is intentionally economical rather than heavy-duty: it keeps the traditional waney lap format affordable while providing the structure required for a low 900mm panel.

The front and back do not look identical because the support layout remains visible, so decide which face you want to present before fixing the panel. It can be installed with suitable wooden fence posts or concrete fence posts. A gravel board beneath the panel is useful where you want to keep the timber clear of direct soil contact and reduce repeated moisture exposure at the bottom edge.

At 3ft high, this panel is best chosen for lower boundaries, front-garden style divisions and internal garden sections where visibility and light are still wanted. If greater screening is required, compare the taller sizes in our waney lap fence panels range rather than extending a low panel after installation.
