At 1.83m wide and 0.6m high, the 1.83M x 0.6M Privacy Square Trellis - Pressure Treated Green/Natural is designed for customers who want a closer lattice than traditional trellis while retaining an open timber structure. Its approximate 50mm square pattern reduces direct sight lines and gives climbing plants plenty of points to weave through.
At 600mm high, the denser square pattern has enough depth to make a clear difference to overlooking while still remaining an open trellis rather than a solid panel. It is useful above lower fencing, around seating areas or where climbing plants are intended to add further seasonal screening. East Coast Fencing manufactures this privacy trellis in-house using 16 x 38mm rough sawn trellis batten. Because the timber is rough sawn, surface texture, saw marks, knots and grain variation are normal and should be expected rather than treated as defects.
The 600mm size is often chosen when the trellis needs to contribute to screening as well as decoration. Compared with the 300mm and 450mm versions, it creates a much larger exposed area above the fence, so the condition of the supporting posts becomes more important. It is also tall enough for plant growth to change the character of the boundary substantially once established.
The green/natural treatment protects the timber for outdoor use while leaving its underlying grain and character easy to see. Freshly treated sections can vary in shade and will change naturally after installation as the panel is exposed to weather.
For use as a topper, first check the condition and spacing of the existing fence supports. The additional height increases the area exposed to wind, so the trellis needs to be fixed to sound posts or framing with suitable exterior fixings. Our fence topper trellis section can help if you are comparing alternative topper heights and patterns.
The smaller openings make this product a better choice for filtered screening than the more open traditional pattern, but it is still trellis rather than a solid barrier. Browse the wider privacy square trellis range for other heights, or the main trellis panels category if light transmission and openness are higher priorities.
