Does a ring latch replace a padlockable gate bolt?

Quick Answer

No. Our 150mm ring latch is primarily the everyday opening and closing mechanism. The separate 150mm pad bolt provides a sliding fastening with a padlock facility when a lockable secondary fastening is wanted.

No. The ring latch and pad bolt perform different jobs on a timber garden gate.

The Perry 150mm Ring Latch is primarily an everyday operating latch. Turning the ring operates the latch mechanism so the gate can be opened and closed in the normal way. The product guidance does not present it as the lockable security component.

The Perry 150mm Pad Bolt is a separate sliding fastening with a padlock facility. It can be used as a manual secondary fastening and can accept a compatible padlock when restricted access is required.

This distinction is also reflected in our gate furniture set, which combines a ring latch and a separate padlockable bolt rather than expecting one fitting to perform both functions. Both components use a bright zinc plated steel finish and can be found within our garden gate furniture range.
