BZP means bright zinc plated. On our gate furniture, it describes a metallic coating applied to the steel rather than the type of fitting or the way the gate operates.
The bright zinc plated finish gives the component its clean silver-coloured appearance and provides corrosion protection for outdoor use. Products in our garden gate furniture range using this finish include Perry tee hinges, a ring latch and a pad bolt.
The BZP description should therefore be read separately from the function of the product. A BZP tee hinge still provides the pivot for the gate, a BZP ring latch provides the everyday opening and closing mechanism, and a BZP pad bolt provides a separate sliding fastening with a padlock facility.
Seeing BZP in the product name does not mean that all of those fittings perform the same job. It simply identifies the bright zinc plated steel finish. When selecting gate furniture, check both the fitting type and its dimensions as well as the finish.
