No. Our 450mm Medium Tee Hinge guidance specifically says not to choose hinges from gate width alone. The gate weight, construction and condition also affect the hinge requirement.
No. A 900mm gate width does not by itself determine that 450mm tee hinges are the correct fitting.
Our BZP 18 Inch (450mm) Medium Tee Hinges are supplied as a pair. Each hinge has a 450mm strap that spreads its fixing points across the face of the gate, while the vertical hinge plate fixes to the supporting post or frame.
The product guidance specifically states that these medium tee hinges should not be chosen from gate width alone. Gate weight, construction and condition also affect the hinge requirement.
The 450mm strap also needs to sit across sound structural timber, with suitable positions available for its fixings. That means two gates with the same nominal 900mm width can still have different construction and therefore should not automatically be assumed to require identical hinge arrangements.
Several East Coast Fencing picket gates are 900mm wide, and our Gate Furniture Pack also includes a pair of 450mm tee hinges, but neither fact makes this hinge size a universal rule for every 900mm garden gate.
Compare the available hinges, latches and bolts within our garden gate furniture range and select the hardware around the complete gate rather than width alone.
