Our Perry 150mm Ring Latch product guidance recommends hanging the gate first and establishing its normal closed position before marking the latch and keep.
This allows the two parts of the latch to be positioned where they naturally meet. The gate should not need to be pushed upwards, downwards or sideways simply to make the latch engage. Marking the hardware while the gate is already hanging also makes it easier to allow sensible operating clearance around the finished entrance.
The 150mm ring latch is a traditional manual operating latch for compatible timber gates. Its steel components have a bright zinc plated finish, and the ring operates the mechanism used for normal opening and closing.
The latch is not intended to replace a separate lockable fastening where restricted access is required. A compatible pad bolt or other security fitting can be added separately from our garden gate furniture range.
The useful sequence is therefore: hang and adjust the gate, close it naturally, then position and mark the ring latch and keep.
