Double slatted panels use horizontal battens on both faces of the frame. The two-sided arrangement interrupts direct views while approximately 40mm gaps remain between battens, allowing some light and air through.
Double slatted fencing creates screening by arranging horizontal timber battens on both faces of the panel rather than forming one completely solid wall of timber. The second layer helps interrupt sight lines through the gaps in the first while retaining openings through the panel.
Our double slatted fence panels use a 45 x 45mm timber frame with horizontal 8 x 45mm battens fitted on both faces. The gaps between battens are approximately 40mm. This combination creates substantial visual screening while still allowing some light and air to pass through the boundary.
That distinction is important when choosing the panel. Double slatted fencing is not completely solid and should not be treated as a fully closed privacy barrier. Small openings are an intentional part of the construction and contribute to the lighter appearance of the finished fence.
The 6ft x 6ft Framed Contemporary Double Slatted Fence Panel uses this construction at a full 1800mm height. It measures 1.828m wide and 45mm deep, so even the tallest version retains the same open double-sided slatted principle.
The horizontal lines also make accurate installation noticeable. Posts should be set consistently and adjoining panels kept level so the repeated battens form a clean line along the boundary.
