Is horizontal slatted trellis the same as a double slatted fence panel?

Quick Answer

No. Our horizontal slatted trellis is an open rough-sawn trellis made in-house, while our double slatted fence panels use a 45 x 45mm frame with 8 x 45mm battens arranged on both faces.

No. Although both products use horizontal timber lines, horizontal slatted trellis and double slatted fence panels are different constructions intended to create different types of boundary.

We manufacture our horizontal slatted trellis in-house from pressure-treated rough-sawn trellis timber. The panels are 1.83m wide and use an open horizontal layout. They are available from shallow topper heights through to full-height screens.

Our double slatted fence panels are framed decorative panels manufactured in Poland for East Coast Fencing. They use a 45 x 45mm semi-planed frame with 8 x 45mm horizontal battens fitted on both faces. Approximately 40mm gaps remain between the battens, with the second layer helping interrupt direct views through the first. The panels are 1.828m wide and approximately 45mm deep.

The 1.83m x 0.75m horizontal slatted trellis is therefore not simply a shorter version of a double slatted fence panel. Choose between them according to whether the project needs open trellis construction or a framed, double-layer decorative fence panel.
