Potentially, yes. Our picket fence panels and closeboard fence panels use the same 1830mm nominal panel width, so corresponding heights are dimensionally suited to the same standard-width bay.
There are matching 600mm, 900mm and 1200mm heights in the two ranges. The important difference is that the panels are not constructed the same way. A picket panel is approximately 50mm deep and uses 13 x 75mm pales with approximately 70mm gaps, fixed across two 75 x 32mm backrails. A standard closeboard panel is approximately 45mm deep and uses 18 overlapping feather edge boards across 75 x 32mm backing rails.
Changing to closeboard therefore changes an open boundary into a substantially more screened one, even where the overall width and height remain the same.
The existing fixing arrangement should also be checked rather than assuming it suits both constructions. Panel clips and other fittings depend on the actual panel edge and post arrangement, not only the nominal 6ft width.
Measure the clear distance between the existing posts before ordering. If the bay still suits an 1830mm panel and the supporting and fixing arrangement is compatible with the replacement, moving from picket to closeboard does not require a different nominal panel width.
