The 3.6m 87x38mm MOT Rail - Pressure Treated Brown is a long 3.6m x 87 x 38mm brown pressure-treated rail for compatible fencing and outdoor timber framework. Its main practical advantage is length: one continuous section can reduce joints on suitable work, or it can be divided into several shorter pieces where a planned cut list makes efficient use of the timber.

A 3.6m rail is not automatically the better choice for every job. For a short repair, the 2.4m version can be easier to handle and may waste less material. Choose between the lengths after measuring the actual spans and considering where the rail will be supported.

The brown pressure treatment gives the timber a darker starting colour and preservative protection for exterior use. Knots, grain and treatment shade vary naturally, and the appearance will change as the timber weathers after installation.

Keep the rail supported while marking and cutting so the long section does not twist or bind the saw. Use appropriate exterior fixings and do not infer a structural load or unsupported span from the 87 x 38mm size alone. If the existing framework uses a different rail profile, replace like with like unless the system is being deliberately redesigned.

Compare this product with other fencing timber and use screws, fixings and fasteners suited to the actual construction. Traditional feather edge systems that require an angled support should use purpose-designed cant rails.
