The 2.4m 87x38mm MOT Rail - Pressure Treated Brown provides a 2.4m x 87 x 38mm treated timber rail for compatible fencing, repairs and general outdoor framework. The shorter length is useful where a 3.6m rail would create a large unused offcut or be unnecessarily awkward to transport and handle around a smaller job.

This product is best matched by section as well as length. If you are repairing an existing structure, measure the old rail before ordering and check how it connects to the surrounding timber. Purpose-shaped rails can perform a different job even when their overall size appears similar.

Brown pressure treatment combines exterior preservative treatment with a darker initial appearance. Because this is natural timber rather than a uniform manufactured surface, individual pieces can differ in grain, knots and shade and will continue to weather outdoors.

Mark the support positions before shortening the rail and use exterior-grade fixings suited to the completed assembly. The 87 x 38mm section does not establish a universal safe span, so it should be supported according to the fencing or framework design in which it is being used.

Browse fencing timber for alternative sections. For a closeboard fence that specifically requires an angled rail, use cant rails rather than substituting this rectangular MOT rail; suitable hardware can be found under screws, fixings and fasteners.
