The 1.83m x 75x32mm Fence Panel Backrail - Pressure Treated Brown is a 1.83m x 75 x 32mm horizontal timber rail for constructing or repairing suitable fence panels. It sits behind the visible boards and provides the fixing line that holds those boards in position, so it is part of the panel framework rather than a decorative finishing piece.

The 1.83m length is particularly useful around standard-width panel construction and like-for-like repairs. Before replacing a failed rail, measure the existing section and check the overall condition of the panel. If several rails or a large number of boards are damaged, replacing the complete panel may be more sensible than rebuilding it around isolated sound components.

Brown pressure treatment combines exterior preservative treatment with a darker initial appearance. Because this is natural timber rather than a uniform manufactured surface, individual pieces can differ in grain, knots and shade and will continue to weather outdoors.

When using a backrail in a repair, support the panel while the damaged rail is removed so the vertical boards do not shift out of alignment. Use exterior-grade fixings suited to the rail and board thickness, and keep the rail level so the repeated board fixings follow a consistent line. This 75 x 32mm section should only replace an existing rail where the dimensions and construction are compatible.

Loose rails can be compared in our square rails range. If you are deciding whether repair is worthwhile, the closeboard fence panels category shows complete closeboard panels, while the wider fence panels range covers other ready-made panel types.
