This 1.83m x 150mm wooden gravel board provides a timber base beneath fence panels while retaining the lighter appearance of green/natural pressure-treated fencing. Its 1.83m length is suited to standard panel-width bays, with a 150mm face and 22mm thickness providing a clear separation between the fence panel and the ground below.
The main purpose of a gravel board is to take the exposure that would otherwise affect the bottom of the panel. Soil contact, damp vegetation and rain splashback can keep the lowest timber wet for extended periods. Positioning a separate board beneath the panel means this replaceable component sits closest to those conditions instead.
The green/natural treatment makes this version a good visual match for similarly treated fencing timber and allows the natural character of the wood to remain visible. Before installation, measure between the posts rather than assuming every existing bay is exactly 1.83m. Timber can be trimmed where necessary, but any fresh cut should be treated before fitting.
