The 0.9m x 125x22mm 2EX Feather Edge Board - Pressure Treated Brown is an individual tapered timber board for building traditional closeboard fencing from separate components. Measuring 0.9m long and sold as a 125 x 22mm 2EX feather edge board, it is intended for short closeboard runs, low garden boundaries and repairs where a full-height board would be unnecessary. Unlike a pre-made panel, loose feather edge lets the fence be built around the actual length and post positions of the boundary.
Feather edge boards are fixed vertically and overlapped along their edges so the finished run forms a continuous timber face. The overlap is important: placing the boards edge-to-edge would leave gaps as timber moves and weathers. Fix them to a suitable horizontal framework such as cant rails where that construction method is being used, and keep the top line consistent with a string line rather than judging each board separately.
Its 0.9m length is deliberately compact. It makes more sense for a low solid boundary, a reduced-height section within a larger project, or replacement work where the existing fence already uses short vertical boards. Choosing the correct board length at the outset reduces cutting and leaves less waste.
The brown pressure-treated finish gives new timber a darker, warmer starting colour while providing preservative protection for exterior use. It is not a paint coating, so grain, knots and treatment shade can vary naturally and the colour will weather after installation.
A wooden gravel board can be used below a timber closeboard run where the design calls for a replaceable barrier between the vertical boards and ground-level moisture.
