If the entire panel appears crooked, check the fence system before blaming the timber. Measure the bay at several heights, check the posts with a level and inspect any gravel board underneath. A framed 1.828m panel forced between moving or incorrectly positioned posts can appear warped even when installation geometry is the main issue.

Then inspect the individual battens.

Loose slats, serious splits around fixing points or substantial local distortion deserve attention. Minor checking, weathering and modest movement can simply be part of natural timber's response to outdoor conditions.

Finally, consider what the panel has experienced. Poor storage, incorrect lifting, dense climbing plants, persistent ground moisture and storm movement can all place additional demands on the structure.
