Fence Topper Trellis
Fence topper trellis is designed to add height, light screening and decorative detail above an existing garden fence. It provides a less enclosed alternative to fitting a taller solid panel, allowing more daylight and airflow through the upper part of the boundary.
East Coast Fencing supplies pressure treated wooden fence toppers in a standard 1.83m width, suitable for common 6ft fencing bays. Choose from slatted, traditional square and privacy square designs in a range of low heights and brown or green treated finishes.
Trellis for the Top of a Fence
Fence top trellis can be fitted above fence panels to increase the overall boundary height while keeping the top section open. It works particularly well above closeboard and waney lap fencing, where the solid lower panel provides privacy and the trellis creates a lighter finish.
Trellis toppers can also support climbing plants, helping soften the appearance of the fence and add greenery along the boundary.
Slatted Fence Topper Trellis
Slatted fence topper trellis has a clean horizontal design suited to modern gardens and landscaped outdoor spaces. The straight timber battens provide partial screening while maintaining a simple, contemporary appearance.
Horizontal slatted trellis is available in several low heights, making it suitable for adding a small decorative detail or a more noticeable increase in screening above an existing fence.
Traditional and Privacy Trellis Toppers
Traditional square trellis has an open grid that allows plenty of light and airflow through. It is a good choice for decorative fence tops and climbing plants where privacy is not the main concern.
Privacy square trellis has closer spacing to provide more screening across the upper part of the boundary. It offers a useful middle ground between open traditional trellis and a fully solid fence panel.
Fence Topper Trellis Heights
Our fence topper range includes low panels in heights such as 0.3m, 0.45m, 0.6m and 0.75m, depending on the selected style. Lower toppers add a neat decorative finish, while taller options provide more screening and space for climbing plants.
Remember that the topper increases the total visible height of the fence. Include the panel, gravel board and trellis when choosing suitable fence posts and planning the completed boundary.
Pressure Treated Wooden Fence Toppers
Our fence topper trellis is pressure treated for outdoor use, helping protect the timber against rot and fungal decay. Brown treated toppers provide a darker finish, while green or natural treated timber has a lighter appearance that gradually weathers outdoors.
Timber is a natural material, so variations in grain, knots and colour are expected. The shade may also differ slightly between panels and treatment batches.
Fence Topper or Full Trellis Panel?
Fence topper trellis is best for adding height above an existing fence without replacing the main panels. Its low profile provides decoration, light screening and plant support across the top of the boundary.
For standalone screening, wall coverage or a complete trellis boundary, see our full range of trellis panels, including diamond, traditional and horizontal slatted designs.
