Only where the paving forms a sound, suitably supported structural base that can accept the required anchors. Loose slabs, damaged concrete or decorative paving that is not securely supported may not provide an appropriate fixing.
A bolt-down post support can be used on a suitable hard base, but the fact that an area is paved does not automatically make it suitable.
Our 75 x 75mm Bolt Down Post Support is anchored through its base plate rather than being driven into the ground. The supporting surface therefore needs to be sound, reasonably level and thick enough for the anchors being used.
The supplied product guidance specifically notes that loose slabs, damaged concrete and decorative paving that is not securely supported may not provide an appropriate fixing. The anchors also need to be selected for the actual substrate rather than assuming that one fixing type works with every hard surface.
Post size must be checked separately. The 75mm support is designed for a 75 x 75mm timber post, while our 100 x 100mm Bolt Down Post Support is made for the larger post section. The two holder sizes are not interchangeable.
If the post is being installed into soil rather than onto an existing hard base, compare the alternative products within fence post spikes and supports rather than treating a bolt-down fitting as a universal post-fixing method.
