Our 1.75m x 0.9m Premium Feather Edge Garden Gate is fully framed. It uses 100 x 50mm rebated and morticed stiles with three 88 x 32mm horizontal rails. Overlapping spruce feather edge boards form the visible face.
Our closeboard fence panels are unframed. Eighteen overlapping feather edge boards are supported by 75 x 32mm horizontal backing rails, with the number of rails changing according to panel height and whether the panel is Standard or Ultra Heavy Duty. Weather capping finishes the upper edge.
The similarity is therefore in the overlapping vertical timber appearance, not in the underlying framework. A gate has its own fully framed construction, while a closeboard panel relies on backing rails behind the boards rather than a complete perimeter frame.
