The frame uses 100 x 50mm rebated and morticed stiles with three 88 x 32mm horizontal rails. Those rails provide fixing support for the cladding at several points through the 1.75m height instead of leaving the boards supported only at the top and bottom.
The feather edge boards overlap to create the largely closed timber face associated with closeboard fencing. This makes the gate particularly relevant to side passages and other pedestrian entrances where screening is important. It also allows the gate to coordinate naturally with a boundary built from loose feather edge boards or closeboard-style fencing.
The green/natural 1.75m x 0.9m fully framed premium feather edge gate is pressure treated for outdoor use. A brown-treated version uses the same general gate construction with a different initial treatment colour.
