These Perry BZP 18 inch (450mm) Medium Tee Hinges are supplied as a pair for hanging a timber garden gate or similar outdoor door. The 450mm strap spreads the fixing points across the face of the gate, while the vertical hinge plate fixes to the gate post or frame to create the pivot.

BZP means bright zinc plated. The plated finish gives the steel a clean metallic surface and provides corrosion protection for outdoor use. As with any external gate fitting, the condition of the fixings and surrounding timber still matters, particularly on a gate that is used frequently or exposed to movement from wind.

These are medium tee hinges, so do not choose them from gate width alone. The weight, construction and condition of the gate all affect the hinge requirement. Check that the 450mm strap sits on sound structural timber and that the fixing positions will not land on weak edges or joints. For other hinge and latch options, see our garden gate furniture.

When fitting, support the garden gate at the required height, establish an even clearance and position both hinges before fully tightening the fixings. The hinge pins need to be vertically aligned so the gate can swing without binding. Use exterior fixings suitable for the hinge holes and the timber you are fixing into.
