Why does East Coast Fencing stock 1.65m feather edge boards?

Quick Answer

The 1.65m feather edge board provides an intermediate length between 1.5m and 1.8m. It is useful where the complete fence height or an existing stepped layout calls for a more precise board length.

We stock a 1.65m feather edge board because some closeboard layouts need a board length between the common 1.5m and 1.8m options.

The board uses the same 125 x 22mm 2EX tapered feather edge profile as the other lengths, so the difference is the 1650mm length rather than a different boarding system. This can be useful on an existing stepped boundary or where the planned finished fence height has been divided between the vertical boarding and a separate base component.

One example is a layout incorporating a 150mm wooden gravel board. A 1.65m feather edge board gives another option when planning the combined height instead of automatically choosing a 1.8m board.

The board length should not be treated as the finished fence height on its own. The gravel board, ground levels, capping and the rest of the supporting structure can all affect the final arrangement, so measure the complete fence before selecting the board length.
