The Brown Pressure Treated 0.9m x 0.9m Point Top Picket Gate is a square-format timber gate for front gardens, paths and garden divisions where a traditional picket boundary is wanted at a more noticeable height than the 0.6m version. Manufactured by East Coast Fencing, it measures 900mm high by 900mm wide and uses a point top picket design that keeps the boundary visually open while giving the gate a crisp, traditional profile.

A 0.9m-high picket gate creates a clearer sense of enclosure than a very low decorative gate, but the spaces between the pales still allow visibility and light through. It is therefore better suited to boundaries where openness is intentional than to side passages where privacy is the main requirement. The point top shape also makes it a natural match for point top picket fence panels when the gate sits within a continuous run.

The timber is pressure treated and finished brown, with a sawn surface and overall depth of 50mm. Pressure treatment helps protect against fungal decay, rot and insect attack. As a sawn fencing product, the timber retains the natural variation and texture expected from garden fencing rather than the uniformly smooth finish of planed indoor joinery.

When setting out the entrance, allow more than the nominal gate width for the complete installation. The final opening needs to take account of hinges, latch hardware and enough clearance for the gate to swing freely. Install suitable gate posts plumb and check the chosen fixing positions before hanging the gate. This is especially important if you are fitting into an existing opening where the posts cannot easily be moved.

The 0.9m height is a useful middle option in the picket gates range: more defined than the 0.6m gates, but less imposing than a 1.2m design. Complete the installation with appropriately sized hinges and a latch from our garden gate furniture range.

Quick answer: Choose a feather edge garden gate when privacy and a solid traditional appearance are the priorities, a picket gate for an open front garden or internal boundary, and a double slatted..
