The Samac Brown Drive In Fence Spike 100 x 100 x 600mm is a ground spike for installing a compatible 100 x 100mm timber post without setting the post itself into concrete. The 600mm spike is driven into suitable ground, leaving the square post holder above ground ready to receive the timber post.
This version has a powder-coated brown finish and is sized specifically for 100 x 100mm posts. The larger post section makes accurate alignment particularly important: once the spike has been driven substantially into the ground it is much harder to correct a leaning holder without disturbing the surrounding soil.
Use a suitable driving tool or sacrificial driving block so impact is applied to the spike without damaging the post socket. Check both directions with a level as the spike progresses and make small corrections early. Ground conditions matter. Very stony ground can deflect the spike, while loose or disturbed ground may not provide the restraint expected from a driven fixing.
