Longer 2.4m and 3.0m wooden gravel boards are not restricted to standard 1.83m panel bays. They provide more flexibility when a timber fence is being built around its actual post spacing.
Longer wooden gravel boards are particularly useful when the fence is being constructed from individual timber components rather than pre-made 1.83m panels.
Our 1.83m wooden gravel board is suited to a standard panel-width bay. The 2.4m and 3.0m versions provide additional material for fences where posts and rails are being positioned around the actual boundary. Both longer formats have a 150mm face and are 22mm thick.
The longer boards can be measured and cut around non-standard post centres. The 3.0m version is the longest in the range and can also reduce unnecessary joins where the layout allows a longer continuous section. This makes the boards particularly relevant to site-built fencing using wooden posts, rails and individual feather edge boards.
Any newly exposed end grain should be treated after cutting. The advantage of the longer board is therefore not simply having more timber, but having greater control over where each gravel-board section starts and finishes in a made-to-measure fence.
