These John George 5.0 x 100mm Impact Professional Wood Screws are long timber fixings supplied in a tub of 300. The 100mm length makes this version the one to consider when the fixing needs to pass through a relatively substantial timber section before obtaining a useful bite in the timber behind it.

The screws are made from hardened steel with a zinc and yellow passivated finish. They use a Pozi recess, ribbed double countersunk head, milling shank and double Type 17 point. The point is designed to start readily in timber, while the milling section clears material as the screw is driven. The countersunk head is intended to finish into the timber rather than remaining proud of the surface.

The 100mm size is useful for heavier timber assembly, but screw length should always be chosen around the thickness of the pieces being joined. Check that the screw will achieve sufficient engagement without emerging through the reverse face or entering an area where hidden services or other materials may be present. For general fencing and landscaping work, compare other sizes in our screws, fixings and fasteners range.

For applications such as joining substantial garden timbers or certain railway sleeper projects, pre-position the components accurately before driving the screw. Although the Type 17 point is intended to reduce the need for pilot drilling in many timbers, dense, dry or edge-positioned timber may still benefit from a pilot hole to reduce splitting risk. Each tub contains 300 screws and three driver bits.
