The 3.0M 4WW Pyramid Top 150mm Square Gate Post in pressure-treated green/natural is a substantial timber post intended for supporting garden gates, entrance gates and other gate installations where a larger section is appropriate. At 3.0m long and 150 x 150mm square, it provides considerably more timber section than a standard fence post, giving the hinge side of a gate a solid structural support.

The 3.0m overall length is useful where the installation needs both a meaningful above-ground post height and sufficient timber available for setting below ground. The correct amount to embed depends on the gate, ground conditions, exposure and finished height, so it is better to work that out from the actual installation rather than assume a fixed depth. Our fence post length calculator can help compare post lengths while planning the job.

The 4WW top is four-way weathered to form a pyramid profile. This slopes away on all four sides instead of leaving a flat end grain surface at the top of the post, helping rainwater run off while also giving the post a finished appearance. The timber is pressure treated for exterior use and has a green/natural treatment colour, making it a practical match for similarly treated fencing and gates.

Gate posts need more consideration than ordinary intermediate fence posts because the gate load is carried through the hinges on one side. Before installation, check the gate width, hinge arrangement and the required clearance between the two posts. Set the hinge post plumb and allow the fixing material to cure properly before hanging a heavy gate. Suitable products can be found in our cement products range, while hinges, latches and related fittings are available under garden gate furniture.

This 150mm square post is best chosen where the gate installation genuinely calls for a large timber section rather than simply matching the size of nearby fence posts. If you are planning a complete entrance, compare the available garden gates and check the gate, posts and ironmongery together before ordering. The green/natural finish is the main difference from the brown-treated version, so the choice between them is usually driven by the surrounding timber and the finish wanted for the completed boundary.

Quick answer: Choose a feather edge garden gate when privacy and a solid traditional appearance are the priorities, a picket gate for an open front garden or internal boundary, and a double slatted..
