The 3.0M 4WW Pyramid Top 150mm Square Gate Post in pressure-treated brown is designed as a substantial support for timber gates rather than as a routine intermediate fence post. Its 150 x 150mm square section gives the hinge side of a gate a broad timber fixing area, while the 3.0m overall length provides scope for both the required visible post height and the portion that must be secured below ground.
This makes the post particularly relevant when installing larger garden gates, field-style gates or entrance gates where the supporting post needs to cope with the load transferred through the hinges. The correct setting depth is not the same for every job: gate size, exposure, ground conditions and finished height all matter. Plan those details before digging rather than cutting a 3.0m post down unnecessarily. For initial sizing, the fence post length calculator is useful for comparing available post length against the intended installation.
The top is finished with a four-way-weathered pyramid profile. Instead of leaving the end of the post flat, the four sloping faces encourage rainwater to run away from the top and provide a more deliberate finish around an entrance or gate opening. The timber is pressure treated for outdoor use and finished brown, which suits fencing projects where other posts, rails or gates use the same treatment colour.
Accurate setting out is important with gate posts. Establish the required opening from the actual gate and chosen ironmongery, then position the hinge and closing posts accordingly. Keep the hinge post plumb while the foundation material sets because a small error at the post can become much more noticeable across the width of a gate. Appropriate setting materials are available in our cement products range, and the hinges, latches and bolts should be selected from suitable garden gate furniture for the gate being installed.
Choose a 150mm square gate post when the gate and site justify a heavier timber support; it is not necessary to use this section everywhere along the adjoining fence. Our gate posts range can be used to compare the available options, while the brown treatment on this version makes it the natural choice where the surrounding timber has a brown-treated finish.
