This 1.8m x 0.9m framed contemporary double slatted garden gate is a full-height timber pedestrian gate for boundaries where privacy matters but a completely solid face is not wanted. Manufactured by East Coast Fencing, it uses a framed double slatted design with horizontal boards arranged to reduce direct sight lines through the gate while still leaving some space for light and airflow. At 1.8m high and 900mm wide, it is well suited to side passages, back garden entrances and contemporary boundary layouts.
The timber is pressure treated in a green/natural finish for exterior use. The gate has an overall depth of 45mm and a semi-planed finish, giving the visible timber a cleaner surface than a rough sawn fencing component while retaining the natural character of wood. The horizontal slat pattern is the main reason to choose this gate over a traditional closeboard or feather edge design: it gives a more architectural appearance and can be paired with double slatted fence panels where the gate and adjoining boundary need to follow the same design language.
Before installation, measure the finished opening rather than assuming a 900mm gate needs a 900mm gap. Space is required for the chosen hinges, latch and operating clearance, and the exact allowance depends on the ironmongery and posts being used. Select suitable gate posts that can support the gate and position them accurately so the gate can hang square and move freely.
The double slatted construction improves screening, but it is not a completely solid privacy gate. Small openings are part of the design, so customers wanting a fully closed timber face should consider a different gate style. Likewise, the 1.8m height makes this gate more appropriate where screening is important than a low picket gate, which intentionally leaves the boundary open.
