Single Slatted Fence Panels

Single slatted fence panels give a modern, airy look with horizontal lines that work perfectly alongside paving, decking and smooth render. The gaps soften views while still letting light and breeze through, especially when paired with matching fence posts and protective gravel boards. Choose your height, keep things lighter with single slats or team them with double slatted panels where you want more screening, and enjoy free delivery on orders £99+.

Single Slatted Fence Panels

Single slatted fence panels are the sleek, modern way to get privacy with light and air. Horizontal boards visually widen narrow plots, create calm shadow rhythms and soften sightlines without turning the boundary into a solid wall. At East Coast Fencing our pressure treated slatted panels are made to 1.83m centres and designed to sit as part of a complete system with compatible fence posts, gravel boards and panel capping. Choose your heights, plan your run and order with confidence – free delivery applies on orders £99+.

Why single slatted suits real gardens

Slatted panels read beautifully against porcelain paving, decking and smooth render. Evenly spaced boards throw soft, repeating shadows that make long boundaries feel deliberate rather than improvised. Unlike fully solid screens, the gaps bleed wind so fences stay quieter and posts work less hard, yet everyday views are comfortably blurred at typical garden distances. Add planting in front and the combination of foliage and slats gives excellent screening without feeling boxed in.

Planning heights, gaps and runs

Aperture – the gap between slats – sets the balance between privacy and airflow. Near seating areas and kitchen windows you can tighten gaps so the space feels calm and enclosed; along side returns and breezier corridors, slightly wider spacing keeps air moving and helps the fence dry quickly after rain. Panels are built at 1.83m widths, so set out is straightforward. Use lower heights to edge terraces and front gardens, and full height panels around hot tubs, dining areas and garden rooms. On slopes, decide early whether to step for a crisp skyline or rake for a flowing top line, always keeping the base datum consistent.

Posts, base details and upkeep

Good slatted panels deserve a solid backbone. For a warm, adjustable framework you can trim on site, choose straight wooden fence posts; where low maintenance and easy swaps matter most, pair panels with slotted concrete fence posts. Protect the base from damp and strimmer rash with concrete gravel boards on busy runs or wooden gravel boards for a continuous timber look, and finish the top with simple panel capping. Day to day care is light touch – keep soil and mulch below the board line, brush off leaf build up each autumn, check fixings in spring and treat any fresh cuts so your single slatted fence keeps its clean, contemporary look.
